The ultimate best practices checklist for your resume:

Look for ways to connect your work with what is listed in the Job Description

• You don't have to have the exact same experience, there are always transferrable skills you can list
• Follow a clean template outline like the one we linked. (Recruiters skim templates, so if it’s too busy or unstructured they may not even look at it.)
• Keep it to one page unless you have over a decade+ full-time working experience.
• Look for opportunities to mirror the job description in your resume where it's relevant.

Be specific about the impact you made in your most recent roles

• You can add some of your previous roles and your most impactful project from each of them, but you don’t need to go into the same amount of detail. Recent wins are more important to highlight.
• Always start with an action verb for your bullet points and mind your tenses! If you're in the role now, it's present. If you're not, it's past.

To make your experience stand out, in each of your bullet points, think through these questions:

• Can you make this experience relate to the skills required for the job you’re applying for?
• Be specific. What was the project and what did you specifically do?
• What was the result of your work? Can you quantify your outcome in a meaningful way?
• Did you learn anything unique through this experience?
• What was the clear impact you had on the organization through your work here?
• Were there any prominent figures or companies in the industry that you worked with?

• Clear description of the work with hyperlinks: “Led the run-of-show and launch strategy, developing marketing materials for the announcement of Facebook Watch. ”
• Listing specific examples of public figures or teamwork can illustrate key relationship management skills: “Collaborated cross-functionally to land messaging with talent including Jada Pinkett Smith"
• Include quantified business impact: “achieving a 10% lift in engagement metrics."
